PICTOU STANDARD - OCTOBER 1909 ALEXANDER S. MCKAY - The sudden and unexpected death of Alexander S. McKAY, of Waugh's River, which took place on Sept. 30, fell cold on many a heart, and when the tiding of his death spread many eyes were red with weeping. His fatal sickness was appendicitis at an incurable stage, and the closing hours of his life were overshadowed by great suffering. Though his physical frame was robust, the combined skill of three doctors was unavailing, and at midday the Master came, and fearing no evil, he walked through the dark valley. He was a consistent and industrious citizen and a kind neighbor. A man of personal faith and devotion, which shone through is whole manner of life. Such was the friend taken from among us at the age of fifty-seven years. Appropriate funeral services were conducted on Oct. 1, by Rev. T. SEDGEWICK, D.D., and Rev. W. FORBES of Tatamagouche, when the road was thronged by the crowd who gathered to his burial, when he was laid in his narrow bed, amid sobs and gushing tears. He leaves an aged mother, widow and three children, besides a multitude of friends to mourn their loss. - Pictou Standard.
