Geneva Olive Hart 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Wednesday, February , 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Geneva Olive "Ma Hart" Hart, 81, New Minas, passed away peacefully Monday February 7, 2000, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born September 28, 1918 at New Ross, she was a daughter of the late Burton and Serilla (Dorey) Leopold. She owned and operated Hart's Canteen in Cambridge. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, February 10, in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville. Funeral servicce will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 11, in St. John's Anglican Church, Wolfville, Canon H. Douglas Hergett officiating. She is survived by daughters, Pauline (Fred) Cochrane, Grand Pre; Doris Brightman, Brampton, Ontario; Ruth McKinnon, Halifax; Linda Silver, Brooklyn Corner; sons, Fred (Cavelle "Ding"), South Alton; Malcolm, New Minas; Melvin (Karen), Kentville; Herbert, Aylesford; sister, Ida (Moston) Strong, Scotch Village; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Bruce; one granddaughter; brothers, Clarence, Andrew, Brenton, Sidney, Willie, James, Freeman, Arthur; and special half-brother, Jimmie Collins; sisters, Mabel, Jennie, Mary, Florence, Lottie, Catherine, Anne, and Edna. Geneva "Mom" would always try to make us laugh even during the toughest times. She was our doctor, nurse, and best friend. Although we miss her here with us, we know she has gone on to help others see the brighter side. Family flowers only please.
