    3. Mrs. Adolphus Bishop Fairn 1931 Ada Zamine Starratt, eldest daughter of the late William and Melissa Starratt, was born at East Dalhousie on September 16, 1861. She was married to Mr. Fairn in 1884 and since then has lived at New Albany, Annapolis County, where she endeared herself to her neighbours by her quiet, sympathetic kindness, especially in times of sickness and sorrow. Scarcely a home in the community but, has been cheered by her presence when a gentle touch and a cheering word were most needed. Since the death of her husband, she has spent part of each year at her own home in New Albany with her youngest son, George and his wife, and the remainder of the time visiting among her other chidlren, Fred Fairn of Yarmouth; Mrs. Edgar Mason of Falkland Ridge; Mrs. Fred Bishop of Lawrencetown; and Mrs. Fred Chipman of Nictaux West. It was while she was in Yarmouth that the end came. After a very pleasant happy day with her son and his wife, she retired and apparently went to sleep feeling perfectly comfortable. Morning came and as she did not come down to her breakfast at the usual time, her son's wife went to her room and found her in an unconscious state, from which she never recovered. Her trusted friend, Dr. Lew Morton, was summoned and a kind and efficient trained nurse did all that could be done, but to no avail, as the right side was completely paralyzed. Her children all reached her bedside as soon as a motor car could convey them, but the mother whom they loved so dearly, knew not of their presence. Just twenty-two hours after she was first strickcen, she passed away, on the morning of her 70th. birthday, September 16th., 1931. The funeral services were held in the New Albany Baptist Church to which she belonged and were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Mr. Howlett, who urged upon the large audience the importance of being ready to go at any time. A favourite hymn of Mother's was "Abide With Me," which was sung very beautifully by Miss Ethel Shaffner of Lawrencetown, and another favourite,"Lead, Kindly Light" by Rev. George Bryden of Springfield, which was very much appreciated by all the fmaily. Mr. Bryden also assisted during the service. Interment took place in the Oakes Cemetery near the church. The flowers which covered the casket were not more beautiful than the gentle tranquil face of our mother, who slept so sweetly and so peacefully there among them. She was beloved by all who knew her and her sudden passing brings sadness not only to the hearts of her children and grandchildren, but to a host of friends.
