Roland Gervis Barkhouse 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Tuesday, January 25, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Roland Gervis Barkhousse, 75, Kingsport, Kings County, died January 21, 2000, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born at Medford, Kings County, he was a son of the late Lorne and Blanche (Layton) Barkhouse. In his earlier years he worked in the farming industry. Then he was employed with Valley Plumbing and Heating and later with Wylie Victor Barkhouse as an electrician. He was a member of the Emmanuel United Church, Kingsport. He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing summer sports. Surviving are brothers, Wylie, Kingsport; and Merlin, Canning; nephew, Donald Barkhouse, Coldbrook; nieces, Rose Marie Wilson, Edmonton; Kathy (Barkhouse) Zwicker, New Minas. He was predeceased by brother, Lawrence. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Kentville. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in Emmanuel United Church, Kingsport, Rev. Dr. Tony Newell officiating. Burial in the Habitant Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Emmanuel United Church.
