Carl Marcus Russell 1961 Bridgewater Bulletin The funeral of the late Mr. Carl M. Russell, a highly respected resident of Simpson's Corner, whose death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roger L. Varner, on December 11th., from injuried sustained in a car accident of Saturday, November 18th., at which time his wife, Vera M. Russell, was killed instantly, was held from Epworth United Church at New Germany on Wednesday, December 13th., at 2 o'clock. The service was conducted by the Rev. Peter S. MacDonald, assisted by Rev. T.W. Thirkill who gave a very comforting and sympathetic address. Hymns sung were "Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross" and "Abide With Me." The organist was Mrs. George Zwicker. Mr. Russell was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew W. Russell of Hemford. He is survived by one daughter, (Eveline) Mrs. Roger L. Varner; three sons, Max, Bradford, and Edgar, all of New Germany. Also there are two brothers, Hallet of New Germany; Lester of Hemford; four sisters, (Flo) Mrs. Garfield Conrad of Springfield; (Lela) Mrs. Harold Conrad of Cookville; (Doris) Mrs. William Haines of Norwood, Mass.; and (Rena) Mrs. Henry Zwicker of Pinehurst. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren. Two brothers, Gordon and Reginald, predeceased him.
