John Blagdon September, 1985. The community of Riverport and area were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Mr. John Blagdon. John (or Jack as he was commonly known) passed away at his home at the age of 61. He was born at Coombs Cove, Fortune Bay, Newfoundland, a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Vallis) Blagdon. He was a seaman by trade and also worked for Riverport Seafoods for several years. He is survived by his second wife, Marguerite (Creaser) Wolfe Blagdon; two sisters, Roberta and Mrs. Archibald Cluett, both of Coombs Cove; two brothers, Leonard, Gander; and Harry, Coombs Cove; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sarah; a son, Warren; and two sisters. Funeral service was at St. Andrew's Presbyterain Church with Rev. Laurence Mawhinney officiating, with interment in Lower LaHave Cemetery.
