Abia Rosena Silver 1992 Bridgewater Bulletin The death occurred on Juyl 4th., 1992, of one of Lunenburg County's oldest residents in the Rosedale Home for Special Care at the age of 106 years. Mrs. Silver was born at Hemford, February 14, 1886, the daughter of the late George Edward Smith and Annetta (Crouse) Smith. She was a seamstress by trade, a loving mother, and a friend to all. She is survived by one daughter, Cecelia (Mrs. Ellis Colp), Eagle Head; two sisters, Rachel (Mrs. Terry Veinot), Lake Pleasant; Sadie (Mrs. Howard MacKenzie), Bridgewater; two grandchildren, Susan (Mrs. Richard Klinger), Edmonton; Richard, Victoria; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Vulcan; four brothers, Edward, Saint John; J.A. Rollen, Nineveh; Ishmael, Hemford; and Horton, Ontario; three sisters, Flora (Mrs. Elkanah Crouse), Hemford; Celia (Mrs. Urban Joudrey), Halifax; Cinderella (Mrs. Curley Horton), Bridgewater; one son, Dr. George Thomas Silver, Edmonton. The funeral was held at Emmanuel Church, Hemford, Monday afternoon, July 6, 1992, conducted by Rev. Ross Hamilton who spoke words of comfort to her family and friends gathered to pay their last respects to one who will be greatly missed. The choir, led by Mrs. Connie Wile, sang two hymns, "Abide With Me" and "The Lord is My Shepherd." Pallbearers were Eugene Veinot, Milton Snyder, Royce Lohnes, Aubrey Garber, Basil Wagner, and Melvern Silver. She was laid to rest in Hemford Cemetery.
