John Kempton Dexter 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: February 3, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie John Kempton Dexter, 81, Melvern Square, died February 1, 2000, in the Veteran Affairs Unit, Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born at Milton, Queens County, he was a son of the late Clifford and Anne (McKinnon) Dexter. He was a veteran of the Second World War. He was a carpenter and worked at Woodworth Construction Kentville, Greenwood Saddle Club, and CFB Greenwood. Surviving are his wife, the former Gwen Sly; daughters, Valerie Hatt, Digby; Lyn Boone, Kingston; son, David, Chicoutimi, Quebec; sister, Thelma Joudrey, Bangs Falls, Queens County; brother, Francis, Greenfield, Queens County; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter, Sheila; six brothers and sisters. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday in Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton, Rev. Carmen Crockett and Pastor Herb Townsend officiating. Burial in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square. Donations to Veteran Affaits Unit, Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton.
