Marie Merle Clothier 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Saturday, January 29, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Marie Merle "Greta" Clothier, 81, Halifax, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2000, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born September 21, 1918, in East River Point, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Eveleen (Meisner) Melvin. She was a member of St. Philips Anglican Church, Halifax, and a member of the Hackenley Guild. She was an avid sports fan and a member of THe Happy Gang and Seniors Bowling Leagues. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, George William; daughter, Joan (Mrs. Edward Leblanc), Eastern Passage; sons, Henry (Germaine), Chester; William (Patricia), New Minas; sister, Gladys Meisner, Upper Blandford; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Dorothy Melvin. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, Bayers Road, Halifax, Rev. Frank Reid officiating. Interment to follow in St. George's Cemetery, East River Point, with Rev. Sean Taylor assisting. Family flowers only by request. In lieu, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice.
