OBIT # 5180 -EASTERN CHRONICLE - JANUARY 29, 1948: Following a trying illness borne with fortitude, Mrs.ALEXANDER CHISHOLM, mother of the Parish Priest of the Catholic Parish of St.John the Baptist, Rev.D.R.CHISHOLM, died at the home of her son, the Parish Glebe, early on Wednesday January 21st. She had resided with her son the last fifteen months. Aged seventy-five, the late Mrs. Chisholm was in early life MARY daughter of HUGH and MARY CHISHOLM GILLIS. Before her marriage to Alexander Chisholm, the well known former councillor of Ohio, she had taught school at Glenn Road, Antigonish County. Practically all her life was lived in the County of Antigonish. Mrs. Chisholm had many friendships from the hospitality of her home and in mid life it was her great joy to have two of her children give their lives to their Church. Besides her husband she is survived by eight children, Rev.D.R., PP.of St.John's in New Glasgow; HUGH at the old home in Antigonish; JAMES D. and GEORGE in New Glasgow; MARY(Mrs.Thomas Visser), Boston; JEAN, a sister of the Order of St.Martha, Antigonish, JOHN and CATHERINE (Mrs. Aubrey Druhan), Antigonish County. Her son celebrated the Solemn High Mass of Requiem in St.John's Church on Friday morning, where the Co-Adjutor Bishop of Antigonish, Most Reverend John R. MacDonald, nine members of the clergy, numerous members of the Religious , and many hundreds of the Parish joined with the Repose of the Soul of a beloved the bereaved family in Praying for mother, wife and friend. Interment was at St.John's cemetery.
