Leo F. Morton 1980 Bridgewater Bulletin The death of Leo Freeman Morton of Barss Corner took place at Pleasant Rest Home, Bridgewater, August 27, 1980in his eighty-sixth year. Born at Barss Corner(should be Watford), he was a son of the late Joseph and Hannah (Hawkesworth) Morton. Surviving are his wife, former Maud Whynot, New Germany; one son, Bazil Morton, Barss Corner; three daughters, Hazel (Mrs. Hazel Lohnes), Digby; Vera (Mrs. Lossie Fancy) , Upper Northfield; Glenda (Mrs. Lamert Ramey), New Germany; a step-daughter, Beulah (Mrs. Lawrence Lohnes), Upper Northfield; three sisters, Margaret, Olla, and Lavenia; also a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers and seven sisters. The deceased rested at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany where funeral service was held Saturday afternoon, August 30, Rev. Randy Crozsman officiating. The organist was John Nause, Upper Northfield. Hymn sung was "Abide With Me" by Krista Mallory. Pallbearers were three of Leo's nephews and three friends, Jacob Penney, Clifford Penney, Elmer Penney, Douglas Morton, Oscar Silver, and Bruce Jodrey. Interment was in Barss Corner Community Cemetery.
