    3. UNKNOWN PAPER - 26 SEPTEMBER 1950 ELIZA MCLEOD - Waugh's River - This community was greatly shocked on hearing of the sudden death of an old resident, Miss Eliza McLEOD In her 76th year. She was the last surviving member of a family of seven of Mr. George and Mrs. Ellen (NELSON) McLEOD. She was in her usual health until Friday afternoon September 15 when she was stricken with a severe stroke from which she never became conscious and passed "calmly away on Tuesday evening, September 19. A short time before her illness she was greatly delighted to have a cousin come to visit her from Washington Mrs. Clara MARTIN, whose company she much enjoyed and who was with her through her illness and death. In her early years she spent sometime in the U.S.A. and returned later to care for her aged mother. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Tatamagouche, and a member of the Ladies missionary Society for a great many years. She was tenderly cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence SUTHERLAND who occupies the old home. She is survived by several nieces and nephews all residing in the U.S.A. one niece Mrs. Stanly JODRY (nee Margaret CALLAHAM) arrived from Melrose, Mass., for the funeral. She is also survived by a number of cousins in her home community. The funeral was held from her late residence and largely attended on Friday, September 22. The service was conducted by her Pastor. Rev. Mr. ISAAC, assisted by Rev. W.J. WILLIAMS a former pastor, now at Scotsburn, Pictou County. The following hymns were sung "The Lord's My Shepherd," and "From Every Stormy Wind That Blows." The pall bearers were Kenneth SUTHERLAND, Peter WATT, Norman WILSON, Lawrence SUTHERLAND, Gordon HAYMAN and William NELSON. Interment was at the Fall Cemetery in the family lot. (Note: Another copy of this obituary has 1930 written on it.)
