R. Oakleigh Sarty 1977 Bridgewater Bulletin R. Oakleigh Sarty, 76, of Bridgewater, died Wednesday, May 18, in Dawson Memorial Hospital. Born at New Germany, he was a son of the late Wallace and Laura (Spidle) Sarty. He was a retired employee of Bowater Mersey Paper Company. Mr. Sarty was past Noble Grand of Maple Lodge, No. 155, IOOF. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Heisler, Halifax; Mrs. Violet Mosher, Bridgewater; one son, Glenn, Bridgewater; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Gates, Windsor; Mrs. Lois Dailey, California; one brother, W. Hansford, California; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Effie Stevens; one sister, Mae; and a brother, Elwood. Funeral service was held in the Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany, with Rev. Rolf Meindel officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Varner, C.E.C. Lantz, Gordon Chesley of New Germany; Ray Wentzell, Margeson Wentzell, of Maplewood; and Milton Rhodenizer of Parkdale.
