    3. Samuel Josiah Meisner 1946 Bridgewater Bulletin One of New Germany's oldest and most respected citizens, Samuel Josiah Meisner, passed away at his home on Friday, August 15, following a long period of failing health. He was the son of the late Jacob and Eve Meisner and was born at "The Ovens," Lunenburg County, over 88 years ago. He had been a resident of this place for over twenty years. He is survived by his wife, formerly Mary Ramey of Bridgewater, and by three sons, Harold in Saskatchewan; Ralph in British Columbia; Frank, at home; also one daughter, Dorothy of Halifax. One sister, Bertha, Mrs. JonathanMorrison, of Liverpool also survives. A son, Fred, predeceased him during the First Great War. Funeral services were held on Saturday at St. John's Anglican Church, conducted by Rev. W.H. Chard. Hymns sung were "Peace, Perfect Peace,""Lead, Kindly Light," and " Abide With Me." The pall-bearers were Willis Veinot, Charles Varner, Clarence Mosher, Donald deLong, Horton Chesley, and Roswell Feindel. The floral offerings were beautiful, a silent tribute to the departed, testifying to the high esteem in which he was held by a large circle of friends who extend their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
