    1. [NS Obits] Conrad, Ella
    2. Rosemary Rafuse
    3. Mrs. Ella Conrad Handwritten date: October 13, 1940. Following an illness that covered a period of about three months, death came early on Sunday morning to Ella, widow of Captain Lemuel Conrad of Rose Bay. Mrs. Conrad, who had reached the age of 61 years, was the only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Conrad of Rose Bay. Her mother was Miss Conrad of East LaHave. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, a faithful wife, and fond mother of a large family of children and her early passing cast a gloom over the community. She is survived by three daughters, viz.: Mrs. Haliburton Demone (Daisy) of First South; Mrs. Ralph Conrad (Margaret) of Halifax; and Miss Nina, at home; and six sons, Captain Norman and Lawrence of Rose Bay; Leaman of Bayport; Clyde of Lunenburg; Purvis and Albert, at home. She is also survived by one brother, Captain Thomas Conrad. Her husband predeceased her four years ago, succumbing from a heart attack while on board ship at Newfoundland. The funeral was held from her late home and church on Tuesday afternoon. Due to the vacancy caused by the removal of her pastor, Rev. H.N. Lossing, the service was conducted by Rev. C.H. Whitteker of Bridgewater. His text was taken from Rev. 14:13, "And I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me, write, blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth, yea, saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labours, and their works do follow them." The hymns sung were "Abide With Me" and "Peace, Perfect Peace." Interment took place beside her late husband and child in the family plot in Harbour View Cemetery at Rose Bay. The pall-bearers were Reuben Oxner, Banford Ritcey, Lennox Conrad, and Charles Conrad.
