    3. Ira L. Rhodenizer 1958 Bridgewater Bulletin The community was shocked on Tuesday, August 26th, when the news came about the highway accident near Truro, which claimed the life of a prominent citizen of Parkdale, Ira L. Rhodenizer, as he was travelling to Truro to attend a directors' meeting of the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture. Mr. Rhodenizer served and was wounded in the First World War. He was a consistent member and trustee of the Emmanuel United Baptist Church, of Parkdale-Maplewood, and will be greatly missed. He was Past Master of the Hillcrest Masonic Lodge; a member of the Mae Chapter of Eastern Star, No. 38; a member of Rhodora Rebekah Lodge, No. 116; president of New Germany Fruit Company; Director of the provincial and county Federation of Agriculture; and president of the Lunenburg County Centre Liberal Association. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tupper Rhodenizer, of Parkdale, and was born December 28, 1890, one of a family of fifteen. Surviving to mourn their loss of a kind and loving husband and father are his wife, the former Ethel Wentzel, of Maplewood; three daughters, Marjorie (Mrs. Max Hebb), serving in a pedriatic clinic in Ottawa; Lucy (Mrs. Gerry Charlebois), Ottawa; Merna, at home; four sons, Lee and Alonzo, at home; Blair with the R.C.A.f. at Trenton, Ontario; Robert, of Barss Corners; and four grandchildren; seven brothers, Dr. V.B. Rhodenizer, Wolfville; Elllis, Newtown, North Dakota; Lester of Maplewood; Laurin, Livermore Falls, Maine; Lt. Cmdr. Leon, New Glasgow; Perry, Weld, Maine; and Milton, Prkdale; five sisters, Mrs. Ralph Phillips, Hantsport; Mrs. V.L. Wright, East Dalhousie; Mrs. Byron Fancy, Mahone Bay; Mrs. Laurin Kaulback, Rumford, Maine; and Mrs. Earle Fletcher, Hillsborough, New Brunswick. A brother, Earle, was killed in the First World War and a sister, Sylvia died in 1917 of diphtheria. Also surviving are one uncle, Alonzo Rhodenizer, of Brighton, Mass.; two aunts, Mrs. Bessie Bishop, Wakefield, Mass.; and Mrs. Katie Connors, Hillsborough and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends throughout the province and elsewhere. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon at the church with Rev. Eric Miner officiating and assisted by Rev. Frank Locke, a former pastor, Dartmouth and Lic. Donald Chase of Springfield. Memmbers of Maple Lodge conducted an Oddfellows service at the cemetery. Floral tribures, showing the esteem in which the deceased was held, were many and beautiful and filled the front part of the church, too numerous to be listed, and answered personally, there being 174 floral tributes, 184 cards, 5 telegrams, and $20. in memorials, to be used for the church and Sunday School.
