Born at Newellton, he was a son of the late Caleb and Hattie (Nickerson) Newell. He was a member of Bear Point United Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Eliza Newell; sons, Preston, Reynoldscroft, Douglas, Bear Point; daughters, Diane (Mrs. Martin Crowell), Elizabeth (Mrs. Delma Ross), Atwood's Brook; Nancy (Mrs. Verne Nickerson), South Side; Krystene (Mrs. Cessil Huskins), Barrington; Wendy (Mrs. Walton Ryer), River Head; brothers, Wilton, Florida; Herbert, Wood's Harbour; 14 grandchildren; six -great grandchildren. He was predeceased by an infant son; sister, Mildred; a grandson. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in H. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday in the United Baptist Church, Bear Point, Rev. John Martin officiating. Burial in Atwood's Brook Cemetery. Family flowers only.
