    3. Clayton Spindler Handwritten date: June 20, 1943. Citizens of the town were deeply shocked on Sunday morning to learn of the sudden passing of one of its young and enterprising business men in the person of Clayton Spindler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Spindler, Lunenburg, and manager of the Lunenburg Outfitting Company, of which Senator William Duff is the presiding head. The young man had planned an outing trip, intending to leave home in the wee small hours of the morning. At 2 a.m. he was discovered by a member of the family on the floor of the kitchen, apparently with life extinct. Adoctor was hastily summoned, who upon examination, made the pronouncement. Clayton Spindler, after graduating from the Lunenburg Academy, entered the local branch of the Bank of Montreal where he remained for a few years receiving an excellent grounding for his future business career. He was then offered and accepted a position as book-keeper with the Lunenburg Outfitting Company; seven years later he was promoted to manager and for the past three years served efficiently in both capacities. Quiet and unassuming in manner, he was recognized as a young man of exemplary character, was considered by his friends as thoroughly reliable and possessed of excellent business ability. His sudden passing, presumably when in usual health, has left a gap in home and business circles which will be difficult to bridge. Besides his parents he is survived by one sister, Miss Frances, of the staff of the local branch of the Royal Bank of Canada, and a younger brother, Harry, a student of the high school. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon from his home. The service was conducted by his pastor, Dr. H.S.B. Strothard of Central United Church, to which communion the family is connected. The pall bearers were members of the local Royal Engineer Reserve Unit of which deceased was a member. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
