Hilda Dexter 2010 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Thursday, August 12, 2010. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Hilda Dexter, 87, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Tuesday, August 10. 2010. Born at Edinburgh, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late Cyril and Annie (Fair) Parrott. Hilda served with the British Army during the Second World War in the A.T.S. Postal Division. In 1945, she immigrated to Canada and became the assistant post mistress for Brooklyn for over 20 years alongside her husband, Dick. She was proud to be a member of the Nova Scotia War Brides Association. She is survived by her daughter, Heather (Ron) Decker, Dartmouth; and her granddaughter, Krista Decker( David Aucoin), Dartmouth. She was predeceased by her husband, Elvin Victor "Dick"; and half-sister, Nancy Lockie. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. A private scattering at sea will be held at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Queens County Branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses. Hilda's family would like to thank the caring staff of Queens General Hospital and the special ladies who cared for her in her home during these last few months.
