Jean Augustine-McIsaac 2011 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Friday, June 24, 2011. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Jean Augustine McIsaac (Kaqtukwasisip Muin'iskw)- Passed away June 21, 2011, following a lengthy illness. A proud L'nu (member of the Mi'kmaq First Nation), Jean was a respected spiritual leader, and was the head of cultural and historic interpretation at Kejimkujik National Park. She carried a great deal of knowledge of L'nu traditions and history, and touched many lives with her teachings and wisdom. She was the wife and soulmate of husband, Dan; mother of Melissa and Matthew and mi'kiju to grandchildren, Naguset and Tepkunaset. A traditional celebration of her life is ongoing in the family home until Saturday, June 25, when it will conclude with traditional memorial ceremony.
