    3. UNKNOWN PAPER - 28 MAY 1945 MRS. R.E. MACLEOD - Denmark - It is with deepest regret that we record the death of Mrs. R.E. MacLEOD. On Wednesday evening, May 16, 1945, she passed away at her home, River John, N.S. where she has resided for the past few years. Although not in good health for some months she bore her sufferings with Christian fortitute and resignation to the Divine Will. She was a very kind woman of estimable character and was ever ready to extend a helping hand. Born in Middleton, Col. Co., on September 9, 1889, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John SWAN, she married R.E. MacLEOD of Denmark, N.S. where she resided prior to moving to River John. In her immediate family she is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. J.A. Blanchard, one son Carl, one grandchild, all of River John and two brothers, Kasson and Selden SWAN, Middleton. Following a short service at the home, Sunday, May 20, the remains were taken to Middleton Church where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.A. FRASER, of Scotsburn. He recalled loving memories of the deceased and spoke comforting words to the bereaved. The choir led in the singing of "We Cannot Think of Them as Dead", "Sweetly Resting", "The Sweet Bye and Bye". Those officiating as pallbearers were the cousins, Hedley, Alex, Ted and Robbie WILSON, and John and James SWAN, nephews. The casket lay embowered in bloom and a profusion of cut flowers were also included in the beautiful collection which bore silent sympathy. Interment was made in Forest Hill cemetery, Denmark.
