UNKNOWN PAPER - 21 MARCH 1951 HOWARD MACLEOD - The death of a well-known resident of Waldegrave occurred last Thursday, March 15, 1951, when Howard MacLEOD died at his home here at the age of 91. He had been in failing health for some time and his death was not unexpected. A life-long resident of the community, Mr. MacLEOD was a friend of both young and old and any project for the good of the community received his full support. His hospitality was well-known by all his friends and neighbours. Mr. MacLEOD was a son of the late Dan MacLEOD and Jane ROSS, both of whom were born in Scotland. His wife, who survived him, was Miss Margaret McKAY of West Branch. Other survivors are one sister, Miss Mary MacLEOD of Trenton and a brother Peter in British Columbia; one son, John M. and two daughters Mae, at home and Annie (Mrs. J.D. STEWART) Trenton; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The funeral service was held from Brule Union Church on Saturday, March 17, with Rev. G. Bruce of Sharon Church, Tatamagouche, officiating assisted by Rev. G.D. WHIDDEN. Hymns sung by the Brule Choir were, "The Lord's My Shepherd", "Rock of Ages" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus". The pall bearers were George W. ROSS, George A. COCK, J.C. ROSS, G.W. FRASER, D.A. ROSS and George FERGUSON. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The interment was in the Bayview Cemetery at Waldegrave. Those from a distance attending the funeral of the late Howard MacLEOD were, Mr. and Mrs. Jack ADAMSON and Mrs. Forbes ADAMSON of Stellarton; Mrs. Mina MURRAY, Westville; Mrs. McCULLOCK, Scotsburn; Mr. and Mrs. Rod CLARK, Meadowville; Mr. and Mrs. J. Logan McINNES, Loyons Brook; Frank PATTERSON, K.C. and Frank STANFIELD, M.P., Truro; Mr. and Mrs. J.D. STEWART, Mr. and Mrs. Allister McDONALD, Trenton,; Mr. and Mrs. F.D. ADAMSON and sons Garnet, Merle and Lloyd and Mr. and Mrs. MANNING of New Glasgow
