Mildred Olga (Midgie) Silver 2007 Bridgewater Bulletin On Tuesday, October 2, 2007, God decided He needed our Midgie more, and with her friend, Rosemary, by her side, she peacefully went with Him. Born on August 13, 1924, at Hemford, she was the daughter of the late Lawson and Idella (Eisnor) Wile. Except for five years spent in Toronto at the T.Eaton Company, her life was spent in Hemford. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church, Hemford, treasurer for over twenty years, a steward, lay reader, and choir member. She also canvassed for various organizations in her community. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Society and she and long-time friend, Charlotte Garber, organized the Sunday School Christmas concerts and ran a group of girls called the Explorers. Midgie enjoyed bingo, playing cards, knitting, letter writing, and visits with her friend, Lily Russell. She was a faithful reader of Peter Duffy's column and sent him a Christmas card each year. She looked forward to Sunday drives and meals out with her husband, Melvin, sister, Iris, and friend, Margie. She will be remembered for many a good deed performed, her love of family and animals; and her compassion and kindness toward others. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by those who had the good fortune to have known her. She is survived by husband, Melvin, of 56 years; sister, Iris and many nieces and nephews.
