Gertrude Lyle Oikle 1996 Halifax Chronicle Herald Gertrude Lyle Oikle, 95, Nesconset, New York, died August 2, 1996, in Nesconset. Born at Dalhousie East, Kings County, she was the oldest child of the late James and Georgina (Gray) Veinotte. She, with her husband and two children, moved to New York state in 1926, and lived nearly 70 years in Smithtown, New York. Surviving are daughter, Edith (Mrs. Charles Buckheit), Smithtown; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Lona Henley, Granville Ferry; Elaine Daniels, Cataumet, Mass.; brother, Ronald, Pickering, Ontario; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ettney; son, Louis; daughter, Madeline; a grandson; brothers, Everett, Ethan, Harold, Loraine, DeWayne. Funeral was held August 5 in Hawkins and Davis Funeral Home, Smithtown. Burial was in Hauppauge Rural Cemetery.
