Gerhardt, 80, Liverpool passed away February 23, 2005, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born at Western Head, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sadie (Payzant) Gerhardt. Victor spent most of his life working on the sea. He worked on tow boats and the scallop boat "Flying Cloud". He was a loving husband, dad, and grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors spending many years camping with Bertha and making lots of new friends. He liked vacationing at his favourite spot in Prince Edward Island. He is survived by his wife, Bertha (Taillon Doull); daughter, Sherri (Ted) Roy, Truro; stepdaughters, Barbara (Earl) West, Port Hawkesbury; Doreen (Donald) Cunningham, Milton; Anne Godkin (John Chishom), New Glasgow; Alta Mason, Liverpool; Susan (Garlent) Oickle, Port Medway; Eunice Sprung, (Monty Gale), Toronto; Christine Taillon (Keith Lewis), Auburn; stepson, Hugh (Shirley) Taillon, Digby; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Marie McDonald, Brooklyn. He was predeceased by his first wife, Doris Taillon Gerhardt (Berryman); sisters, Florence, Mary, Evelyn, Doris, and Rhoda; stepsons, Robert McDonald, George and Patrick Taillon; grandchildren, Robert, Tracey, Patrick, Theresa, Donnie, and Tony. A celebration of Victor's life will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, February 26, in Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside service will directly follow in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Liverpool, Canon Ken Vaughan officiating assisted by Father Brian Murphy. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
