Harold Sumner Gates 1995 Halifax Chronicle Herald Harold Sumner Gates, 74, Stanburne, died November 1, 1995, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at Stanburne, he was a son of the late Arthur Sumner Gates abd Hazel (Varner) Gates. He was a mixed farmer and woodsman most of his life. He was a member of Pinegove IOOF Lodge 111, New Germany and a recipient of the 50 year jewel. During the Second World War, he was a member of the military police which was based in Halifax. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102, New Germany. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are an aunt, Laura Reed, Middleton and many cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Minnie. Graveside memorial service 10 a.m. today in Epworth United church Cemetery, New Germany, Rev. Peter Armstrong officiating.
