OBIT # 5691 - EVENING NEWS - 23 APRIL 1973 Stellarton- William Edward BOWRAN, who resided on Bridge Ave., with his grandson Bill Bowran, died Sunday in the Aberdeen Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Bowran was 80 years old and was born in Leamington, Cumberland Co., a son of the late Robert and Sarah Jane (Burden) Bowran. In earlier years he had worked in the mine and joined the CNR in 1929 from which he retired in 1958.He saw service overseas in the First World War and was a member of Branch 28 Royal Canadian Legion. He was also a member of the Retired Men's Club and the Retired Railwayy Men's Association and of the Railway Lodge connected with his work. He was an adherent of First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by a son William, Ontario; two grandchildren and a great grandson in Stellarton. Also surviving are two sisters, Catherine (Mrs. Dick Hayes), Stellarton and Harriet (Mrs. John Brown), Montreal. He was predeceased by his wife the former Mae Graham in 1968 and by three brothers, two of whom were killed during the War in France and by four sisters. The remains are resting at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held Wednesday at 2pm. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery.
