Born at Liverpool, he was a son of the late Charles and Jessie (Prudence) West. He was self-employed, holding various occupations throughout his life. He was renowned for repairing bicycles. He was an avid hunter. Surviving are his wife, the former Rhoda Noreen White; daughters, Ardith Gerbert, Milton; Freda Nelson, Montreal; Linda West, Whitehorse; Julie West, Halifax; sons, Vaughn, Western Head; Earl Jr., Port Hawkesbury; Walter, Montreal; David, Saint John; Gordon, Bridgewater; sister, Elva Whynot, Liverpool; brother, Charles, Montreal; 24 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Ardith; brothers, Nevill, Lionel; grandson, Wendell. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Saturday, both in Chandlers' Funeral home, Liverpool, Rev. Joanne MacFadden officiating. Burial will be in the Zion United Church Cemetery, College Street, Liverpool. Family flowers only. Donations to the Mahone Nursing Home.
