    3. Ralph E. Morton 1963 Bridgewater Bulletin The community of New Germany and surrounding districts were shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Ralph Edmund Morton, adopted son of the late Daniel and Mrs. Morton, which took place of a heart attack while at work in the garage of Burpee Hamm. He had been apparently in good health far as anyone knew, always on the job, and friend to all who knew him. He was born in Digby 49 years ago, son of Mr. and Mrs. VanTassel; his mother passing away, leaving a large family. While a very small boy, he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Morton. Left to mourn are his wife, Phyllis (nee Veinot); also nine brothers and sisters in various parts of the province. He was a comrade of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102, serving in the Second World War overseas. Pall bearers were Comrades Warren Trethewey, Pearlie Holland, Burpee Hamm, John Mader, Milton Varner, and Max Feindel. The funeral was held from L.L.Langille's Funeral Home, Barss Corner and was largely attended. Interment was in the community cemetery, New Germnay, conducted by the Rev. P.S. MacDonald who spoke words of comfort to the bereaved. Organist was Mr. Stewart, student pastor. Hymns were "What A Friend we Have in Jesus" and "Jesus, Keep Me near the Cross."
