Muriel Josephine MacKay 2011 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Saturday, November 26, 2011. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Muriel Josephine MacKay, 98, of Shelburne, died peacefully on November 24, 2011, in Roseway Manor, Sandy Point. Born at Shelburne, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Lydia (Dolliver) Swansburg. Muriel was a lifelong resident of Shelburne and was a very community-minded individual. She was a member of the I.O.D.E., the Shelburne Historical Society, an acrive member of the Genealogical Society and a founding member of the Shelburne Garden Club. She was a member of Trinity United Church as well as the U.C.W. Muriel was a natural genealogist and was frequently called upon for her recollections. She is survived by her daughters, Jane (David) Cushing, Sally (John) DeWolf and Mary Lee Gonzaga; grandchildren, Susan, Nancy, Paul, Sarah, Alison, Jaime, and JoAnn, as well as seven great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Alexander MacKay and sister, Jean Swansburg. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Sunday, November 27, from 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Shelburne. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 28 at 2 p.m. in Trinity United Church, Shelburne with Rev. Joanne McFadden officiating. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Shelburne Volunteer Fire Department or charity of choice.
