Born in Westville, Pictou County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Cecilia (White) Cyr. He was a member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou and a retired employee of Ferguson Industries. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Thorne; five daughters, Aileen (Mrs. Walter LeBlanc), Cecile (Mrs. Alphonse Larade), Carolyn (Mrs. Brian Zwicker), Theresa (Mrs. Rich Welsh), all of Pictou; Isabel Scotland, Hinton, Alta.; son, Alex, Mahone Bay; two sisters, Helen (Mrs. Lester Turple), Pictou; Mary (Mrs. Harry Madore), Edmonton; brother, Walter, Pictou; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Andrew; seven children in infancy; three sisters, Rose, Eva Noel, Kate Doucette. The body is in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Gerald MacKenzie officiating. Burial will be in parish cemetery.
