UNKNOWN PAPER - 29 JUNE 1950 JOHN ROBERT CAMERON - Hundreds of friends and relatives paid tribute to one of Earltown's best loved and highly respected citizens at the funeral service held on Sunday afternoon, June 25, for John Robert CAMERON, in the Earltown United Church, with Rev. Mr. Bruce, Tatamagouche, officiating. Hymns sung were "Nearer My God to Thee", "In the Garden" and "Abide With Me." "Jackie" as he was fondly known to so many, was a good citzen, a true friend and a devoted husband and father. He accomplished much in his quiet unassuming manner. His passing is keenly felt in this community, where he lived for all of his 34 years with the exception of the time spent at Aldershot, where he was stationed during World War two. Due to a heart condition he was not accepted for overseas service. He is survived by his widow, the former Dorothy FERGUSON, of West Earltown, three daughters, Misses Carol, Elizabeth and Joan, also his mother, Mrs. Catherine CAMERON; a sister, Mrs. Austin LYNDS of North River and a brother, Russell of the Royal Bank staff, Truro. The pall bearers were Alex FERGUSON, Donald FERGUSON, Henry FERGUSON, James LANGILLE, Douglas MacKAY and Kenneth THOMPSON. Interment was in the Village Cemetery. There was an abundance of beautiful flowers, silent testimonies of respect and sympathy. Our heartfelt sympathy goes to his bereaved family whose loss is irreparable.
