Oran Silas Woodworth 1959 Bridgewater Bulletin The sudden death on Friday morning, September 25th., of Oran Silas Woodworth, occurred at the D.M. Hospital, Bridgewater. Although in ill health for three years, being a kind and loving husband and father, his death was unexpected. Born at Hemford 61 years ago, the son of the late Silas and Ceretha Woodworth, where he spent his entire life, he served the community and surrounding district as undertaker for forty years. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church, where he served as councilman and treasurer for fifteen years. He is survived by his wife the former Elreta Snyder; two daughters, (Norene) Mrs. Donald Morris, Melvern Square; (Geraldine) Mrs. Ray Varner, New Germany; four sons, Kenneth and Bruce, New Germany; Glen, Hemford; and Buster, Wolfville; also seventeen grandchildren; a sister, Cora (Mrs. Charles Markey), of Marlboro, Mass.; and a brother, Lowell of Bridgewater. The funeral service was held in the Union Church, Hemford, on Monday afternoon, where a large number of friends and relatives assembled to pay their last respects. Rev. Glen O'Connor of the Lutheran Parish, officiated at the service and spoke comforting words to the family. Hymns sung were "The Light of the World is Jesus," "Why Not Now," and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Interment was in the Hemford Cemetery. Pall bearers were Carroll, Ira, Obed, Doran, Milton, and Llewellyn Snyder.
