    3. William Henry Oickle 1941 Bridgewater Bulletin Upper Northfield, April 4- The community was shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Henry Oickle, following an illness of only two weeks. Although he had been in poor health about twenty years, yet during the winter he seemed fairly well and helped to do the chores around the barn, etc. Two weeks ago he was stricken down and death came as a shock to his family, relatives, and friends. He was esteemed for his fine qualities of heart and mind, always thankful for things done for him and willing to help others. He was born at Lower Northfield, July 16, 1867, son of the late Joseph and Eliza (Silver) Oickle. He married Miss Nettie Fancey, daughter of the late Josiah and Lavinia (Ramey) Fancey, Upper Northfield. He lived at Lower Northfield until November, 1910, when he and his family moved to Upper Northfield. He leaves to mourn their loss, a loving and devoted wife; three sons, Percey, Barss Corners; Basil, New Germany; and Hubert, at home; seven granchildren; three sisters, Alice (Mrs. Nathaniel Lohnes), of Upper Northfield; Lavinia (Mrs. Amos Ernst), of Union Square; Phoebe (Mrs. Benjamin Wagner), of Worcester, Mass.; besides a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was held on Sunday morning at the home. The service was conducted by Rev. W.H. Palmer, New Germany who spoke very comfortingly from the words," So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom." Psalms 90-12. Hymns sung by the choir were "Rock of Ages," "Lead, Kindly Light," and "Abide With Me." His body was interred at Upper Northfield Cemetery. The pall bearers were his sons, Percey, Basil, and Hubert; assisted by James H. Penney. The floral offerings were beautiful, showing the esteem in which the deceased was held.
