Mrs. Ellen Wentzell 1954 Bridgewater Bulletin The death of Mrs. Ellen Wentzell occurred at her home in New Germany on Sunday July 18th., at the age of 85 years. Born at West Northfield, she was the daughter of the late James Sarty and Marjorie (Veinot) Sarty. One aged brother, Edwin Sarty, is the last surviving member of her family. Her husband, the late Hugo Wentzell, predeceased her by fifteen years, as did four children in earlier years. Following her husband's death, she spent some years in the United States, residing with her sons in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Returning to New Germany in 1952, she had resided with her son, Oscar Wentzell and family. In her immediate family, she is survived by six sons and two daughters, Laura (Mrs. John Trethewey); Lulu (Mrs. Ernest Oickle), New Germany; Stan and Carroll, Gorham, New Hampshire; Fletcher and Harold, Brockton, Massachsetts; Fred, Hiealeah, Florida; Oscar, New Germany; also twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty-nine grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday afternoon conducted by her pastor, Rev. W.L. Myra. Hymns sung were "Come Ye Disconsolate," What Cheering Words are These," and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Pallbearers were Carmern Meisner, Atwood Meisner, Carmen Meisner Jr., George Feindel, Randolph Veinot, and Eugene Lantz.
