Clarence Baker 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Friday, January 28, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Clarence "Clad" Baker, 86, Bridgewater, died January 26, 2000, in the Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in 1913, at Liscomb, Guysborough County, he was a son of the late Walter A. "Archie" and Janet (Dingle) Baker. He served in the Second World War with the navy and was a shipwright by trade. After the war he spent most of his working life as a fisherman and acclaimed boat builder in Guysborough County. The past twelve years he resided in Bridgewater with his wife Jean and stepson Jack and Sandra and Justin Robar. He is survived by wife, Jean C. Baker (Rudolph) (Robar); daughter, Noreen (Gordon) Hubley, Liscomb; son, Gordon Ontario; stepdaughters, Myrna (Keith) Sanderson, Sydney; Blanche (Ken) Edmonds, Dartmouth; Judy (Alec) Hartling, Halifax; stepsons, Eric (Gwen) Robar, Port Bickerton; Jack(Sandra) Robar, Bridgewater; sisters, Eliza Creaser, Riverport; Helen Ellis, Ontario; brother, Walter (Joan) Baker, Liscomb; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Lawrence "Smitty" Baker; first wife, Florence Bezanson; second wife, Marion Smith; stepsons, Keith Robar, Graham Robar; sister, Marjorie Croft; brothers, William Baker, Maxwell Baker, Burnham Baker. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 29, both in Ecum Secum Funeral Home, Sherbrooke. Burial in Liscomb United Church Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations to United Church Cemetery Fund, Liscomb.
