Walter Riley Trask 2009 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Tuesday, July 7, 2009. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Walter Riley Trask, 101, of Sandford, Yarmouth County, passed away July 5, 2009, in Sandford. Born September 12, 1907, he was a son of the late Arnold and Margaret (Bain) Trask. Walter drove a truck for the town of Yarmouth for a few years for his first job. He then did lobster fishing until 1948. Then he drove a dozer for Trask and Shaw Company until 1956. In 1957 he drove heavy equipment for the highway for 11 years, then drove his own truck for general trucking until 1972, at which time he retired and talked to his friend on the CB radio. (He was known as Skipper) and enjoyed life until now. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Eric) Joudrey of Lower Sackville; sons, Charles (Louise) Trask of Truro; George (Debbie) of Sandford; sister, Muriel Terris of Amherst; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and long-time friend, Barbara LeBlanc. He was predeceased by his wife, Hope; sisters, Pearl, Phyllis, Lila, and Eva; brothers, Harold and Irvine; and granddaughter, Clare. The body is resting in Sweeny's Funeral Home in Yarmouth where visiting hours will be today from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 8, at 2 p.m., all from Sweeny's Funeral Home in Yarmouth, Rev. Robert Baker officiating. Burial will be in Sandford Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Sandford Cemetery Fund.
