John Brenton Whynott 2006 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Friday, June 23, 2006. >From the collection of Gwen Christie John Brenton Whynott, born January 12, 1917, died quietly in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, on June 21, 2006, surrounded by his children and their spouses. He lived an active and productive life to the end. In his early days he pursued boxing and served in the Merchant Marines. In later years, he was a member of Mahone Bay Town Council and enjoyed coaching the CBL Boys Club in boxing but he will be remembered most for his faithfulness to his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Agnes, Queens Manor, Liverpool; his son, Gary (Heather); daughters, Cindy Spidle (Darryl), Pamela, Ernestine Byers (Jerry), Andrea Fancy (Jack), and his five grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. No visiting by request. A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, Pastor Chris Emery officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to QEII Health Sciences Centre Foundation through Mahone Funeral Home.
