OBIT # 8113 - EVENING NEWS - 28 OCTOBER 1970 Stellarton- Arthur Whitman (Whit) Trefry, Bridge Avenue, died unexpectedly at his work this morning. Born in Stellarton in 1920, he was a son of Mrs. Ernest Trefry and the late Mr. Trefry. He had been employed with the works department of the town for 23 years and was foreman at the time of his death. Mr. Trefry was a veteran of the Italian Campaign in the Second World War and was a past president with Branch 28, Royal Canadian Legion; a member of the Stellarton Fire Department for over 20 years; and a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Church. Besides his mother , he is survived by his wife, the former Vinie White, New Glasgow; two step-daughters: Mrs. Tom DeWolf Jr., New Glasgow, and Carol(Mrs. Nelson MacKinnon), Bedford; and one step-son Russell White, serving with the Armed Forces in Manitoba. Also surviving are six brothers: Francis and Royce, both of Stellarton; Vernon, New Glasgow; Harold, Ontario; Kenneth, Trenton; and Everette, Oromocto, N.B.; two sisters: Mildred (Mrs. Burton Dean, Sr.), Stellarton, and Claire (Mrs. Ralph Foote), Plymouth. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
