Wilfred Wentzell 1947 Bridgewater Bulletin The community of Maplewood was saddened on Saturday evening, September 13, by the sudden passing away from a heart attack of Wilfred Wentzell. Mr. Wentzell had been in poor health for the past 18 months, suffering from asthma and a heart condition. He was a highly respected member of the community and a friend of all who knew him. He was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Wentzell and was born at Maplewood 75 years ago. His wife, who before marriage, was Louisa Frank, predeceased him 21 years ago. He is survived by three sons and five daugghters: Ray, at home; Cyril and Murray, both at Maplewood; Burdette, Mrs. Edward Corkum, Chester; Laura, Mrs. Lyle Wentzell, Lower Branch; Vida, Mrs. Carl Webb, Halifax; Dorothy, Mrs. Stewart Rafuse, Parkdale; Myrtle, Mrs. Sydney Moore, Nanaimo. One son, Ward, predeceased him several years ago. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and one brother, Raleigh Wentzell, of Maplewood; three sisters, Lillian, Mrs. Arnold Banks, Rhea, Mrs. Charles Spidle, Lola, Mrs. Milton Spidle. Funeral services were conducted at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Parkdale, on Monday afternoon by Rev. Hartlin and were largely attended. Pall bearers were Leslie and Ray Corkum, Roland, Lorraine, and Merle Wentzell, Wynn Rafuse, all grandsons of the deceased. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, testifying to the high esteem in which the deceased was held by a large circle of friends, who extend deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
