Patrick Leo Doody 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Friday, January 5, 2001. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Captain Patrick Leo Doody, 85, Tantallon, formerly of Shelburne and Bridgewater, died December 31, 2000, in Tantallon. Born in Burin, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late John and Katherine (Hoare) Doody. He fished the Grand Banks, Alaska, Lunenburg, and Shelburne from the age of 13 years. He was responsible for outfitting the first scallop fleet in Alaska. He was captain of the fishing vessel "Knock" for many years and fished with his son, John, in the United States until his retirement. He served as a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Parish and was vice president of the Bridgewater Seniors Club and was the "Senior South Shore Cribbage Champion." Surviving are son, John (Eleanor), Absecon, New Jersey; daughter, Patricia Wilson (Gerald), Bedford; grandchildren, John Patrick, Joseph, Jacqueline, Christopher and great-granddaughter, Rachel; sisters, Madeline and Mary; Theresa, who died today, January 2, 2001. He was predeceased by his wife, Sara Mary Delaney; brothers, Michael and Dolph; sisters, Philomena and Irene. Visitation will be today 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Shelburne. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Thomas Church, Shelburne, Rev. Pat O'Meara officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Thomas Church or the Crones and Colitis Society of Nova Scotia.
