UNKNOWN PAPER - JOHN A. MATHESON July 3, 1961. This community was deeply shocked when word came of the tragic death of John A. MATHESON on Tuesday July 3 following an accident at his home at Willow Church Road. Mr. MATHESON came in contact with a high tension wire and was severely burned. He was rushed to Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital where he died shortly after admittance. He was 72 years of age. He was born here and lived his entire life in this community except for 1 year spent in the Canadian west and was a successful farmer. He was a member of Sedgwick Memorial Church and also of the I00F Liberty Lodge No 120. He possessed a keen sense of humor and ready wit, was a true friend and good neighbour respected by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father and husband his wife Sarah J. REDMOND, two sons, Jack in Toronto, Arthur, Amherst, two daughters Velda (Mrs. Ivan MacKAY) Summerside P.E.I., Betty (Mrs. Perry WHITTLE) Amherst and eleven grandchildren, two brothers William A. and Walter both of Tatamagouche and a sister Ethel (Mrs. A. PAIGE) Newburyport Mass., who were all present at the funeral. The funeral service was conducted by his Pastor Rev. John FARTIER who spoke comforting words to the bereaved family. Interment was in Lockerby's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack McKINNON, Bert HOLMES, Harold McCONNELL, Clarence MATHESON, Stanley MATHESON and Harold MATHESON. Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. MATHESON and family in their sad bereavement.
