Donald Revere Burton 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: June 30, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie Donald Revere Burton, 79, Petite Riviere, died June 28, 2000, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at Petite Riviere, he was a son of the late George and Melissa Burton. He served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment during the Second World War and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, Bridgewater. He spent many years on the Shell oil tankers as a first mate on the Great Lakes beofe retiring to Nova Scotia. Surviving are his wife, the former Rose Martell; sons, Donald, Watertown, Massachusetts; Wayne, Petite Riviere; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a stepsister, Barbara Wentzell. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today with a public Legion tribute service 7 p.m., both in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Paul Morris officiating. Burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only.
