James William Veinot 2009 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte James William "Bud" Veinot, 87, Liverpool, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital on March 4, 2009. Born in Milton on August 14, 1921, he was a son of the late Hattie (Harnish) (Veinot) Osborne. "Bud" joined the Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War and received basic training at Halifax Depot, Aldershot-Kentville, and at Debert prior to shipping over seas, where he was with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He served in Italy, Belgium, France, and Holland, and discharged from the army in 1945. He was an employee of Standard Brands Best Yeast Limited for 25 years and a member of Local 141. A member of the Mersey Branch No. 38, Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool and Veterans Club, he worked with the Legion doing suppers for the community. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, ski-doing, and travelling. He is survived by twin sons, Gordon (Andrea), Liverpool and Bordon, at home; grandsons, Jonathan and Matthew Veinot; granddaughter, Samantha Crouse, Bridgewater; great-grandson, Spencer. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Evangeline (Weagle); stepfather, Charles Osborne; sisters, Ethel Shupe, Esther, Nettie, and Betty; brothers, Charles, Frank, William, Hector, and Freeman; step-brother, Clyde Osborne. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A graveside service will be held on March 13, at 2 p.m. in Liverpool Baptist Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangements entrusted to Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool.
