    3. E. Webster Eikle 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Monday, February 28, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie E. Webster Eikle, 82, Blockhouse, died Saturday, February 26, 2000, in the Veterans Unit of the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born at Petite Riviere, he was the son of the late Titus and Amy (Johnson) Eikle. He worked various jobs over the years, retiring in 1983 after 20 years of service with the Department of Highways. During the Second World War, he served for a brief time with the Merchant Marines. He was a long-standing member of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay and member of the Veterans Association and Sunnyside Seniors Centre, Chester Basin. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Letitia Veinot, Blockhouse; daughter, Deborah and husband, Ron Thompson, Lapland; son, Donald and companion, Judy Cunningham, Naugler Road; sister, Sylvia Lavender, Mahone Bay; sister-in-law, Viola and husband, Walter Scott; niece, Bonnie and her husband, Allan Hirtle, all of Oviedo, Florida; grandchildren, Clayton Thompson, Brandi Eikle, Eric Thompson, Gregory Eikle, Patrick Thompson. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Beulah Veinot. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Linda MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse. Flowers from the immediate family only. Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Unit of the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay or to any charity. (Imagine being 82 years old and still having a living mother-in-law!)
