UNKNOWN PAPER - JOSEPH GORDON MACKEEN April 5, 1952. Tatamagouche Mountain, April 14 - After being confined to bed for some years, Joseph Gordon MacKEEN son of the late James MacKEEN and Abigail CROWE, passed away in his 83rd year, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.W. HARRIS, where he was tenderly cared for by them for over two and one half years. The late Mr. MacKEEN lived all his life on the old homestead in Tatamagouche Mountain Section, where he farmed. He was a long-standing member of the New Annan Congregation and an elder of the Tatamagouche Mountains section of that Congregation for many years. The late Mr. MacKEEN was one of a large family of six sons and five daughters. The only surviving one is Mrs. May HARRIMAN of Malden, Mass., U.S.A., now in her 85th year, travelled from her American home to Nova Scotia by train, arriving in Truro Monday evening April 7, thence by car to Tatamagouche Mountain in order to attend her brother's funeral held on Tuesday April 8 at 2:30 p.m. from the Salem United Church with Rev. R.L. WAGNER officiating. The hymns sung by the choir were, "I came to the Garden", "Meet me There," and "We'll never say good bye in Heaven." Mrs. Helen STEVENSON was organist. Beautiful floral tributes were tokens of sympathy. The pallbearers were neighbours, Harvey MacRAE, Willis STUDIVAN, Alex MacDONALD, Earle MacNUTT and John Will SUTHERLAND and Harry LANGILLE. Interment was at Tatamagouche Mountain Cemetery. Two nieces and two nephews of Massachusetts also survive. (Note: The date is from hand a written copy of this obituary.
