George St.Clair Bain 2000 Halifax Chronicle Herald Published: Monday, May 15, 2000. >From the collection of Gwen Christie George St.Clair Bain, 77, Melbourne, Yarmouth County, died May 11, 2000, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born at Pembroke, he was a son of the late Leslie and Lulu (Brannen) Bain. He retired from the Halifax National Harbour Board after 40 years. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the navy. He was a former member of the Yarmouth Gateways Baseball Team and he was an avid outdoorsman. Surviving are his wife, the former Anna LeBlanc; sons, James, Michael, Sandford; stepdaughters, Joyce Fitzgerald, Wedgeport; Andrea Stewart, South Berwick; stepson, John Fitzgerald, Halifax; brother, Douglas, Sanford; sister, Joyce Bezit, Stoney Creek, Ontario; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Burnley, Carl, and Gerald. Funeral 2 p.m. today, in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Yarmouth, Rev. John Eichhorn officiating. Burial in Pembroke Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Canadian Diabetes Association.
