G. Ruth Corkum 2005 Halifax Chronicle Herald >From the collection of Charlene Veinotte G. Ruth Corkum, Bridgewater, passed away November 21, 2005, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Halifax, she was the youngest daughter of Joseph Angus and Ellen Margaret MacGillivray (Fultz), Halifax. She is survived by her husband, Lee; daughter, Jane and husband Brian; son, Blair and wife Joanne and grandson Tyler; sisters, Jean and husband Meredith Shankel, Halifax; Helen and husband Alfred Julien, Dartmouth; Frances Wood, Toronto, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ruth joined CKBW shortly after its inception and was heard daily on the air on a program called The Feminine Viewpoint. Ruth spent many hours donating time delivering Meals on Wheels, volunteering at the Food Bank and South Shore Regional Hospital, and calling on the sick. She retired as a cosmetician after working many years. Cremation will take place with burial at a later date. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Msgr. William Wamboldt officiating. A reception will be held at the parish centre following the service. No flowers or visitation by request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
