    3. Outlook - Thursday, 22 August 1940 - Page 3 - Beriah S. Banks - On Tuesday evening, August 13th, there passed away at his home in Torbrook Mines, Beriah S. Banks, well-known citizen of the community and former school teacher. The late Mr. Banks had been in indifferent health for the past year. He was born at Meadowvale, 79 years ago, son of the late John E. and Charlotte Banks. On March 29, 1888 he was married to Mary Isabel Spinney of Meadowvale. He received his earlier education at Meadowvale, The Digby High School and Provincial Normal College, Truro. For forty years he was a successful school teacher, retiring in 1925. Among schools were Bloomington, Round Hill, Meadowvale, Torbrook Mines, Torbrook, Middleton (four years), Lawrencetown (13 years), School for the Blind (1 year), Granville Ferry and Tatmagouche. Surviving besides his wife, are two daughters and one son: Mrs. W.B. Bishop of Lawrencetown; Josephine M. Banks of Moncton, and Norval S. Banks, Torbrook Mines. A son Leslie predeceased him at Toronto in 1933. One brother also survives, Hardy E. Banks, residing in Massachusetts, and five grand-daughters. Funeral was held Thursday afternoon, August 15th, from the home followed by a service in the Tremont Baptist Church of which the deceased was a devoted member. Rev. C.W. Cook of Kingston officiated. Pallbearers were Eri Neily, Arthur Jefferson, Robie Armstrong and Robert Thompson. Find A Memorial 145829025
