UNKNOWN PAPER - ALEXANDER MCNUTT There passed away at Tatamagouche Mountain on Saturday, August 18, 1928, Mr. Alexander McNUTT, in his 62 year of his age. In the passing of Alex McNUTT the community loses a character of sterling worth. When a young man of 25 or thereabouts he was stricken with a incurable spinal disease which gradually sapped his strength until he was crippled into almost utter helplessness. During the last years of his life he was cared for by his brother Havelock and his wife whose kindness and devotedness to their unfortunate brother is known to all but 'twas a work of love and pleasure to wait upon such a splendid Christian character who patience during these years of suffering showed such absence of self and thoughtfulness for others. Unfortunately his brother Havelock left for the Canadian West on a recent excursion and was therefore absent when the sad occurrence took place. All other members of the family were at his bedside during the last few hours viz. Two other brothers Rufus of Sandville, and Calvin of North River, and three sisters, Mrs. Robert KENNEDY, Mrs. Robert AITCHESON and Mrs. C.J. COCK all of whom reside in New Annan. The deceased was a son of the late William MacNUTT and Sarah HODGE, his wife, who were pioneers in the settling of New Annan and who were so widely known and respected in North Colchester. The funeral was held on Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev. Mr. MURRAY officiating and his tribute of praise for the deceased and words of comfort to the bereaved ones were beautifully phrased and were touching. The casket was banked with lovely floral tributes in the form of sprays and crosses beautifully designed by loving hands. The choir rendered very feelingly the hymns "The Lords my Shepherd", "The Sands of time are Sinking" and "Shall we Gather at the River". The pallbearers were Davie BELL, Earl McNUTT, Gavin BELL and Arnold COCK.
